President Donald Trump must be impeached from office because of the Virginia blackface scandals, says a notable Democratic lawmaker.

Rep. Al Green, D-Texas, took to Twitter last week to argue that the scandals in Virginia involving Democratic Gov. Ralph Northam allegedly being in blackface years ago are “a symptom” of Trumps’ influence on the country.
“When we allow bigotry to infect the body politic with impunity at the highest level, other levels will expect impunity for their bigotry,” Green tweeted this week. Gov. Northam’s refusal to resign for his bigotry is a symptom. Failure to act on Pres. Trump’s bigotry is the problem. ImpeachmentIsNotDead,” Green tweeted.
Green did not provide any evidence to support his claim that Trump should be impeached nor did he explain how the president has any connection to Virginia’s top Democrat being engulfed in allegations of racism.

Northam’s 1984 medical school yearbook shows one person dressed in “blackface” and another wearing a Ku Klux Klan robe, neither of which are acceptable or appropriate.
Northam has gone from saying he’s not sure if he’s either person pictured in “blackface” or in the KKK outfit to saying he’s not either person. Now, he has admitted to once “darkening” his face when he dressed up as singer Michael Jackson.
So what is Green talking about? What does Trump have to do with the Northam apparently being involved in racist actions?
Nothing. But Democrats are desperate to shift the blame and keep the attention on impeaching Trump rather than address the problems within their own party.
