Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez sure has her priorities in order.
During a hearing on Thursday before the House Oversight and Reform Committee, the New York socialist lawmaker made it clear that her constituents are illegal aliens who deserve protections.
The remarks came when Ocasio-Cortez was questioning Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross about adding a citizenship question to the 2020 census.
“Mr. Kobach later sent an email to on July 14th, writing that the lack of the citizenship question ‘leads to the problem that aliens who do not actually reside in the United States are still counted for congressional apportionment services,’” Ocasio-Cortez said.
“Of course, they do reside in the United States, they reside in my district. They are my constituents,” she added.
Ocasio-Cortez apparently pledging her allegiance to help illegal aliens came just days after she went public and disagreed with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on impeaching President Donald Trump.
During an interview with the Washington Post on Monday, Pelosi said she didn’t support impeaching President Donald Trump because he is “not worth it.”
Pelosi also argued that impeachment would be divisive and not something supported by the country, which is a correct argument.
But just hours after Pelosi’s comments, Ocasio-Cortez made it clear she has other ideas.
“Legally, I don’t think it’s something that can ever be 100 percent off the table, but if that’s how she feels right now I respect that,” the New York socialist said.
Ocasio-Cortez went on to argue that there are a number of “unsettled variables,” which she did not detail or explain.
“Well, I think all of us have a responsibility to advocate our viewpoints, and so I wouldn’t say that the statements are designed to shut down conversations or to shut down the conversation over it,” Ocasio-Cortez said.
“You know, this is how the Speaker feels, but the whole point of our democracy is that if we disagree we have a responsibility to air out our arguments as to why and take it into consideration,” she added.
Ocasio-Cortez again pushing for impeachment comes just days after she literally ran away when questioned about the recent bombshell allegations against her campaign.
